Good Shepherd Medical Center wants you to know the importance of breast self-exams and annual mammograms for women ages 40 and older.
Did you know…
- Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women of all ages*.
- If detected early, breast cancer has a five-year survival rate of over 95 percent.
- Mammography is the best known method for early detection. Mammography has the ability to detect breast cancers before they can be felt.
- Breast self exams should be performed by women monthly to check for lumps, thicknesses, or other changes in the breast.
