At Good Shepherd, we value the role of the Student Nurse Extern. These students work hand-in-hand with our healthcare team under the direct supervision of registered nurses. They will become familiar with the hospital environment and gain the clinical experience necessary to prepare for a career in the nursing profession.
Good Shepherd Medical Center takes pride in education offering optimal growth for career development. Following the Nurse Extern Program, we offer an educational platform that includes the Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Our goal is to have our students choose Good Shepherd Medical Center as their place of employment after graduation.
The minimum requirement for a Nurse Extern is the completion of one clinical semester of an accredited nursing school (completion of two semesters is preferred).
