Good Shepherd Occupational Medicine features a full-time Board Certified Occupational Medicine physician, physician assistant, physical therapist and a nurse practitioner on staff. A variety of examinations, screenings and services are available to help employers maintain a healthy workforce and meet federal, state and local mandates.

Examinations and Screenings (Pre-placement & Post-employment screenings):

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Physicals
  • Non-DOT Physicals
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Drug Screenings
  • Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Breath Alcohol Testing
  • Respiratory Fit Testing and Training
  • Vision Screening

Standard Physicals/Fitness for Duty Exams

  • Identifies individuals who do not meet job specific requirements and recommends accommodations.
  • Evaluates for duty and recommends accommodations based on ability to perform essential job functions.

Care Management

Fast treatment of work-related injuries is just the beginning of the services offered to employers. Because Good Shepherd Occupational Medicine recognizes that consistent communication with the employer is crucial, the following tools are used to aid with communication initiatives.

  • Telephone follow-up with the employer after initial visit and, when appropriate, for follow-up visits
  • Injury tracking throughout the course of treatment
  • Assessment of employer's injury and treatment trends
  • Scheduling impairment ratings
  • Referrals to specialists
  • Follow-up on all injuries evaluated in the Good Shepherd Emergency Department
  • Hand certified Occupational Therapist
  • Onsite physical therapy services

Travel Consultation

Occupational Medicine offers international travel consultations and all major immunizations. It is the only clinic in the Longview area designated by Texas Department of Health as a Yellow Fever vaccination center.

Industrial Therapy Program

Occupational and Physical Therapy services are provided through the Good Shepherd Occupational Medicine Clinic. These services are designed by licensed therapists to provide individualized therapeutic treatment programs that facilitate early return to work for the injured employee. In conjunction with formal rehabilitative services, additional testing services include:

  • Post-Offer Fit-for-Duty Testing
  • Ergonomic Assessments
  • Lift Assessments
  • Work Conditioning Programs
