Pediatrics at Good Shepherd Longview
Caring for your littlest loved ones
At Good Shepherd, we know caring for children is special; they have unique physical and emotional needs. This is why we have staff dedicated to caring for children 0-18 years of age when they need hospital care.
Our pediatric and adolescent unit is a secure, 19-bed unit that includes a treatment room, four isolation rooms and centrally monitored beds. Fun and safe toys are also available for children of all ages to enjoy during their stay.
The staff is also a reflection of an environment designed around children and their specific medical needs. Each nurse is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and many are specialty certified in pediatrics. The highly qualified nursing and medical staff provide extensive inpatient and outpatient services to help children with a wide array of medical conditions.
Good Shepherd Medical Center is proud to have on staff dedicated pediatric hospitalists, specializing in providing medical care to children in a hospital setting. Generally, a pediatric hospitalist is a pediatrician who has completed additional years of pediatric residency training. Our pediatric hospitalists works with the child’s primary physician while the child is hospitalized. After the child is discharged from the hospital, care will resume with the regular pediatrician.
