Guardian-Winter-2015 - page 5

G
old Rush 2014 was a great evening and an
outstanding fundraiser for Good Shepherd Medical
Center. It was my honor to have chaired this year’s event,
“Disco Déjà vu.”
Each year, the Good Shepherd Guild votes to support
a needed service or project with proceeds from the Gold
Rush event, based on recommendations by GSMC’s
administration. This year, the Guild chose to use 2014
Gold Rush proceeds to fund 3D Mammography units for
the Breast Center at Good Shepherd.
Since 1984, Gold Rush has played a vital role in the
development and advancement of services such as: the
Heart Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Perinatology
Clinic and Women’s Center, Shepherd House, Digital
Mobile Mammography Service, Phase II of the Medical
Simulation Center and facility improvements, which
supported the Graduate Medical Education program. To
date, the annual Gold Rush event has raised $8 million
in support of Good Shepherd Medical Center.
I would like to thank everyone from Good Shepherd’s
Foundation, staff, and board, as well as all of the
wonderful Guild members who volunteer their time
and talents so generously. I would also like to extend
a special thanks to the past Gold Rush Chairwomen for
their leadership, creativity and dedication, as well as
our many generous donors and sponsors. Your passion
and willingness to help Good Shepherd assists in bringing
outstanding quality and accessible healthcare to our
East Texas community.
Sincerely,
Cynde Bell
Gold Rush 2014 Chair
