Pathway to Excellence® Designation

In 2012, Good Shepherd Medical Center achieved Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish. The designation substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Good Shepherd and identifies it as one of the best places to work.

As a Pathway to Excellence® designated organization, Good Shepherd Medical Center is committed to nurses, to what nurses identify as important to their practice and to valuing nurses’ contributions in the workplace. This designation confirms to the public that nurses working at Good Shepherd know their efforts are supported. The honor encourages other nurses to join their colleagues in this desirable and nurturing environment.

The Nurses at Good Shepherd Medical Center have a long and honorable history of providing compassionate high quality care to patients who come to us for treatment of both their bodies and their spirits. Nurses at Good Shepherd Medical Center recognize that patients are the heart of the healthcare system and the reason we strive to be excellent. The Shepherd’s crook that represents caring hands and heart on our logo is a visual display of what we value as caregivers—YOU!

As nurses providing care to patients and families, we seek to distinguish ourselves as exceptional providers of healthcare, not only in our region, but in the state of Texas and nationwide. How do we achieve this? Through our interactions with patients at their most vulnerable moments and by listening to what they tell us and acting upon their suggestions.

Good Shepherd Medical Center is always searching for committed compassionate and caring professionals who want to be a part of our team and fulfill our mission to provide quality and compassionate care for our patients and the communities we serve.

Nursing Leadership Team at Good Shepherd Medical Center

The Nursing Leadership Team at Good Shepherd Medical Center is committed to supporting the clinical caregivers as they provide evidence-based clinical care to the patients of our community. In addition, we are dedicated to on-going development of nurses as they excel as professionals in their areas of expertise. The nursing leaders seek to inspire and engage the hearts and minds of the clinical staff as they strive to deliver superior care with a focus on patient and family satisfaction. One of the ways this is accomplished is by supporting the clinical Shared Governance program as Good Shepherd medical Center.  We seek to serve and promote professional practice in every setting.  This is evidence by our Professional Practice Model.
