Ancillary Councils

Ancillary Council
Ancillary Councils are utilized to support the Shared Governance structure:

Clinical Leadership Council
Supports the empowerment of direct care clinicians to make decisions within the council structure (including providing for scheduled time to attend councils).

Supports all councils in the changing healthcare environment and its impact on current patient care delivery trends.

Nurse Staffing Advisory Council
In accordance with The Hospital Safe Staffing Law (Senate Bill 47), the a Nurse Staffing Committee was established as a standing committee recognized by the organization and Board of Directors.

Establish a collaborative process for hospital leadership and direct care nurses together to create a staffing plan that will achieve positive patient outcomes.

Nursing Peer Review
The purpose of this council/committee is to support the nursing peer review of licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and registered nurses (RNs) providing nursing care at Good Shepherd Medical Center.

Clinical Ladder Committee
The purpose of the Clinical Ladder Committee is to support and maintain the Clinical Ladder program for nurses.

Product Evaluation and Value Analysis Team (PeVat)
Operating with staff representation, the purpose of this council/committee is to review and evaluate all supply requests for Good Shepherd.

Policies & Procedure
The purpose of the council/committee is to review all general policies and procedures of Good Shepherd Medical Center ensuring that they comply with the applicable standards of care.

Medication Use
The purpose of the Medication Use and Safety Team committee is to review practices as they relate to medication use within Good Shepherd Medical Center.
