The Medical Staff
Physicians are independent practitioners and do not work for Good Shepherd
Medical Center. The physician who admits you is responsible for directing
your care while you are in the hospital. However, you have the right to
participate in the plan and decision making for your care. Your physician,
as the coordinator for your treatment program, should be consulted if you
have questions about your illness.
Under the direction of your physician, a healthcare team will provide care
for you during your hospital stay.
Nursing
Nursing care is provided on a continuous basis twenty-four hours a day,
seven days a week. The nursing team led by charge nurses, consists of
registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses and nurse assistants.
Case Management
Case managers coordinate patient healthcare by assisting the patient
and his/her family through the healthcare process. By working with nurses,
physicians, medical technologists and other healthcare providers, the case
manager reviews every detail of your care and recovery. Case managers visit
each of their patients daily and accompany physicians on their rounds to
make the healthcare process seamless and complete.
Social Work
Social Work may be consulted for any special discharge planning needs or
for crisis intervention. For more information, contact Social Work at

Clinical Laboratory
The laboratory assists the medical staff in meeting the needs of patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Technologically-advanced laboratory equipment ensures your physician receives the highest quality results in the shortest possible time.
Medical Imaging
The Medical Imaging Department provides diagnostic testing through the use of high-tech equipment. Services are provided by registered technologists and interpreted by qualified, appropriately-credentialed radiologists.
Pulmonary Services
Experienced respiratory therapists provide pulmonary services based upon physicians’ orders. Pulmonary services such as breathing treatments, Pulmonary Function Tests, Pulmonary Stress Testing and various other services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Rehabilitation Services
Rehabilitation therapy plays an important role in restoring health. Based upon your health needs, various therapies may be included in your healthcare plan.
Pastoral Care Services
Good Shepherd Medical Center believes that total patient care demands attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Members of the pastoral care services staff are available to assist you, whatever your religious traditions. Call the operator by dialing “0” to request a Chaplain.
The chapel is located on the first floor across from the SICU waiting area and the visitor elevators and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to visit the chapel for worship services, prayer and meditation.
Housekeeping
A member of the housekeeping staff cleans your room daily between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m
Daily cleaning consists of the following:
- Emptying of all trash receptacles
- Cleaning your restroom and sink
- Replenishing toilet paper and paper towels
- General wipe down of any soiled areas
- Sweeping and mopping floors
