2009 CareChex
Good Shepherd is ranked 1st in Texas and 4th in the United States for clinical excellence in Orthopedic Care and 1st in Texas and 15th in the United States for Patient Safety in Cardiac Care. Medical Excellence Awards and Patient Safety Awards were received in Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care, Cardiac Care, Orthopedic Care, Neurological Care, and Respiratory Care. Patient Satisfaction Awards were also received for Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care and Overall Surgical Care.
CareChex is a hospital quality rating service of The Delta Group – a national healthcare information services company that provides clinical, financial and patient satisfaction findings to consumers, providers and purchasers of U.S. medical care. Unlike other publicly available hospital quality ratings, CareChex provides a comprehensive evaluation of all components of medical quality including process of care, outcomes of care, and patient satisfaction.
2009/2010 Consumer Choice Award
National Research Corporation (NRC) recognized Good Shepherd medical Center as one of the nation’s top hospitals with the 2009/2010 Consumer Choice Award. The award identifies hospitals which healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image.

Good Shepherd Medical Center was recognized with top honors by HealthGrades including being ranked among the top 5 percent of all hospitals nationally for overall Orthopaedic Care and among the top 10 percent of all hospitals nationally for Cardiology Services, Spine Surgery and General Surgery, according to a comprehensive study released by HealthGrades, the nation’s leading healthcare ratings company. Good Shepherd Medical Center is a recipient of 2009 Specialty Excellence Awards for Coronary Intervention, Orthopaedic Surgery, Spine Surgery and General Surgery.

2006 HealthGrades
Good Shepherd Medical Center is one of only two hospitals in the state of Texas to receive the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence by HealthGrades for four consecutive years. HealthGrades, the nations leading independent healthcare ratings company, announced in January 2006 that Good Shepherd Medical Center is also ranked among the top hospitals nationally in the areas of Orthopaedics, Stroke, Pulmonary, Gastroenterology and General Surgery.
2005 Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award
In November 2005, Good Shepherd received the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award of Excellence from TMF Health Quality Institute, the Medicare quality improvement organization for Texas. To earn the award, Good Shepherd had to achieve or maintain performance of 90 to 100 percent on all national quality measures within one or more targeted clinical areas. Only 25 hospitals statewide achieved this milestone.
2005 VHA Leadership Award
VHA Inc., a national healthcare provider alliance based in Irving, TX, recognized Good Shepherd in May 2005 for excellence in cardiac care. Good Shepherd is one of only 92 VHA member hospitals nationwide to receive the 2005 Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence and is the only healthcare provider in the region to receive the honor.
