2013 Ranked Nationally for Quality Clinical Excellence

Officials at Good Shepherd Medical Center announced today their notification of receiving the 2013 quality award rankings from CareChex, a division of The Delta Group, an independent quality ratings group. These rankings listed Good Shepherd Medical Center as #1 in the Market for Medical Excellence in Overall Hospital Care and Overall Medical Care. Good Shepherd was ranked in the Top 100 in the Nation for Medical Excellence.


Pathway to Excellence® Designation

In 2012, Good Shepherd Medical Center achieved Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish. The designation substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Good Shepherd and identifies it as one of the best places to work.


Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award

Good Shepherd Medical Center received the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Silver Award from TMF(r) Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas. TMF established the awards program in partnership with The Texas Hospital Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals and Texas Osteopathic Medical Association.


Becker’s Hospital Review 100 Great Community Hospitals

In 2012, Good Shepherd Medical Center was recognized as one of the “100 Great Community Hospitals” by Becker’s Hospital Review. The list recognizes high-performing hospitals that have fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. Good Shepherd was one of only three Texas hospitals to make the list.


Good Shepherd Health System Featured in Modern Healthcare’s 100 Top Hospitals: 15 Top Health Systems

Good Shepherd Health System was featured in Modern Healthcare’s article 100 Top Hospitals: 15 Top Health Systems. Thomson Reuter’s selected winners from a total of 321 systems with 2,194 member hospitals and about eight million patient discharges. Good Shepherd Health System was included in the top quintile of Small Health Systems for the Longview and Marshall facilities.


2012 CareChex Awards

Good Shepherd has received 2012 quality award rankings from CareChex, an independent ratings division of The Delta Group, which recognized Good Shepherd Medical Center as a Top 100 Hospital in the Nation for Overall Medical Care, Heart Failure Treatment, Major Orthopedic Surgery, Joint Replacement, Orthopedic Care, Pulmonary Care, Gastrointestinal Care, and Gall Bladder Removal. Good Shepherd was also recognized as being in the Top 10% in the Nation for Overall Hospital Care, Cardiac Care, Heart Attack Treatment, Neurological Care, General Surgery, Pneumonia Care, Stroke Care, Spinal Surgery, and Trauma Care. These quality rankings indicate lower complication rates and better overall results.


2011 HealthStream, Inc ‘Excellence Through Insight’ Patient Satisfaction Award

Good Shepherd Medical Center’s A600 Progressive Care Unit was selected for receiving the highest patient satisfaction ratings for an Inpatient Step-Down Unit by HealthStream. HealthStream, Inc is a leader in providing independent research and learning solutions for the healthcare industry, including nationally recognized patient satisfaction rankings. Good Shepherd was awarded this honor for their commitment to excellence in patient care.


2011 Target: Stroke Honor Roll Recipient

Good Shepherd Medical Center was awarded as one of only ten hospitals in Texas to be recognized on the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Target: Stroke Honor Roll. Good Shepherd Medical Center is now the only healthcare institution in East Texas to achieve this distinction.


2011 CareChex Awards

Good Shepherd Medical Center has been awarded numerous high rankings from CareChex. CareChex is a hospital quality rating service of The Delta Group, which provides clinical, financial and patient satisfaction findings to consumers, providers and purchasers of U.S. medical care.
