In 2012, Good Shepherd Medical Center was recognized as one of the “100 Great Community Hospitals” by Becker’s Hospital Review. The list recognizes high-performing hospitals that have fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. Good Shepherd was one of only three Texas hospitals to make the list.

To compile the “100 Great Community Hospitals” list, Becker’s editorial team analyzed information, recognition and rankings from a variety of industry sources, including iVantage Health Analytics, Thomson Reuters, HealthGrades and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. According to Becker’s, Community hospitals are a critical component to the American healthcare continuum.
