Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, is a method of obtaining images of the inside of your body through the use of high frequency sound waves. As the sound passes through the body, echoes are produced that can identify how far away an object is, its size, shape, and consistency. The images are captured in real-time, allowing the physician to see the movement of internal organs and tissues.
Good Shepherd Medical Imaging department uses advanced technology (GE Logiq 9 and the GE Voluson 4-Dimensional Expert) ultrasound systems and is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The GE Voluson 4-Dimensional Expert system is the most technologically sophisticated ultrasound equipment available. The 4-D technology enables continuous updating of three-dimensional images, providing expectant parents a “live action” view of the baby’s development and motion.
In addition to obstetric imaging, the 4-D ultrasound is used for breast imaging, interventional urology and general imaging to yield clearer images than traditional ultrasound technology.
