Clinical psychiatry is the study of the mind and mental processes, especially in relation to behavior. It is concerned with diagnosing and treating disorders of the brain, emotional disturbances and behavior problems.
At Good Shepherd, our psychiatrist and licensed clinical social workers provide outpatient psychiatric medication management as well as individual, family and group psychotherapy services for adolescents and adults. Our professionals provide assessment and treatment for depression/dysthymia, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, anxiety, A.D.D., thought disorders, anger management, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders and grief. Chronic pain and other neurological disorders commonly produce depression, which should be treated by a psychologist.
