What is the Institute for Healthy Living?

The Institute is a not-for-profit entity that offers two paths of wellness:

  • Advanced outpatient rehabilitative services and educational programs for individuals requiring a medically-guided continuum of care.
  • A comprehensive fitness and wellness facility for individuals and area employers to improve and maintain their health.

The Institute also features the Healthy Living Café, a full-service spa, pro shop, outdoor walking trail, Healthy Living Hideaway children’s play center, and classrooms for community educational programs, meetings and special events.

Why are employers interested?

Statistics prove that healthy employees lead to a healthier business. Employees in good health may cost companies less money in direct health care expenses and indirectly, in less time absent from work due to illness and injury. A corporate wellness program not only improves productivity; but helps reduce absenteeism and injuries caused by workplace accidents and the repetitive motion of job related tasks.

Isn’t “Green” A Color?

The Institute for Healthy Living is a sustainable or “green” design, one of the fastest growing architectural and interior design trends. The Institute was planned with five broad ideals of sustainability in mind: site planning, water conservation, energy efficient, air quality and renewable materials/resources. These design features and construction elements position the Institute for Healthy Living for a certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) under the U. S. Green Building Council.

In December 2009, the Institute for Healthy Living was awarded the LEED Gold Certification by the US Green Building Council. Click here to view the TV News video.
